3 years ago, I went to my old college, to a remembrance of a college friend who after college had joined the department faculty. There I got to sit next to a classmate of mine, one whom I'd forgotten was once such a good friend.
Old People Fun
When you asked me to sit next to you,
at the remembrance for our departed friend,
I felt as we’re in school again,
may I hug you once more in my arms?
will you smile when I try to charm?
It was a wake recalled with happy tears,
the type I had not known for years
Yes I’ve met your husband,
you spoke to my spouse on the phone,
It isn’t as I’m going to date you,
that’s all left but well ‘nuff alone,
We’ll make no secret lovers tryst,
and I’ve grown too old to take the risk
Yet to be young again,
at an age when all was not decided,
When we could feel together, and
by not yet years or vows divided,
Reminds me now I’m the happiest I’ve ever been,
still to envy the children,
in our look back remembrance school years scene
